Geosynthetic Clay Liners

Geosynthetic Clay Liners

Sodium bentonite Geosynthetic Clay Liners is a new geosynthetic material, which is made by mixing the bentonite particles and corresponding additives as raw materials, and fixing the bentonite particles between the geotextile and the plastic woven geotextile fabric through the needle-punching process.

The sodium-based bentonite waterproof blanket owns both the characteristics of geotechnical materials and the waterproof (impermeable) properties.

Geosynthetic Clay Liners Features

  1. An economic and environmentally sound alternative to synthetic liners or to bituminous products.
  2. Dense and slim with high bond and shear strength.
  3. Superior to conventional compacted/puddled clay lining
  4. High puncture and tear resistance – the bentonite clay has a high swelling capacity and low permeability offering good system integrity.
  5. Self-sealing.
  6. Long-term protection against ground water seepage

Geosynthetic Clay Liners Application

The sodium bentonite GCL has a wide range of applications, including:

1.Underground Construction: The sodium bentonite GCL can be used for waterproofing basements, underground parking lots, tunnels, and underground passages. It prevents groundwater from infiltrating into the interior of the building, protecting the structural integrity and internal facilities.

2.Foundation Engineering: In foundation engineering, the bentonite GCLs can be used for high groundwater level areas or where waterproof protection is required. It prevents groundwater leakage into the foundation of the building, ensuring foundation stability and structural integrity.

3.Ponds and Pools: The  bentonite waterproofing geosynthetic clay liner can be used for waterproofing ponds, pools, and the surrounding areas. It forms a waterproof barrier, preventing water from seeping into the surrounding soil and maintaining a stable water level.

4.Hydraulic Engineering: In hydraulic engineering, the sodium bentonite waterproofing GCL can be used for waterproof protection of river embankments, dams, and reservoirs. It prevents water from infiltrating or leaking through the soil, ensuring the stability and safety of the engineering structures.

5.Civil Engineering: The sodium bentonite Geosynthetic Clay Liners can be used for waterproof protection in civil engineering projects. For example, it can be used as a waterproof layer for bridge bearings, underground pipelines, and tunnel linings, preventing water infiltration that may affect the stability of the structures.
