HDPE textured geomembrane is a new type of anti-leakage geotechnical products, which is available in one side smooth one side textured hdpe membrane and double side textured hdpe liners.

This rough geomembrane can increase its coefficient of friction and function of preventing leakage, especially used in anti-leakage in slope and vertical surface in order to enhance its stability

What are the advantages 0f textured geomembrane?

Textured geomembrane offers advantages such as increased frictional resistance, improved impermeability, enhanced stability, reduced liquid accumulation, and resistance to damage. It provides a reliable and long-lasting solution for specific civil engineering applications.

Increased frictional resistance: Textured geomembrane has a surface with patterns or protrusions that enhance the frictional resistance between the geomembrane and soil. This provides better resistance against slippage, particularly in applications where the geomembrane needs to remain stable on steep slopes or inclines.

Enhanced impermeability: The texture of the geomembrane increases the contact area between the geomembrane and soil, improving the compaction and impermeability of the interface. This is beneficial in applications where higher waterproofing performance is required.

Improved stability: The texture of the geomembrane promotes interlocking between soil particles and the geomembrane, increasing the bonding strength between them. This leads to improved stability and overall performance, particularly in applications that require soil reinforcement.

Reduced liquid accumulation: The texture of the geomembrane helps reduce liquid pooling on the surface and provides better liquid drainage capabilities. This is advantageous in applications where good drainage is required, such as ponds, channels, wetlands, and other similar settings.

Textured Geomembrane Application 

The textured geomembrane sheet is widely used in areas of garbage burying landfills, waste disposal, tail minerals storage and underground construction projects.

1.Slope and embankment protection: Textured hdpe geomembranes are suitable for slope and embankment protection projects. The surface texture and uneven structure increase friction and bonding with the soil, providing better resistance to slippage and effectively preventing slope failure and soil erosion.

2. Geomembrane for Landfills: Textured hdpe, lldpe geomembrane are widely used in landfill liner systems. Their excellent impermeability prevents waste leakage, protecting groundwater resources and ensuring environmental safety.

3.Wastewater treatment plants: Rough geomembrane liner can be used as liner materials in sludge ponds, equalization basins, and settling tanks in wastewater treatment plants. They effectively prevent wastewater leakage, protecting the surrounding soil and groundwater quality.

4.River restoration and shoreline protection: Textured geomembranes can be used for river restoration and shoreline protection projects. By increasing friction and bonding with the soil, they can reduce water flow velocity, mitigating the risks of river erosion and shoreline scour.

5.Groundwater protection barriers: Textured geomembrane rolls are widely used in the construction of groundwater protection barriers. Their excellent impermeability effectively prevents the leakage of contaminants into groundwater, ensuring the safety of groundwater resources.

Textured Geomembrane Production Process

Spray Coating Method

In the spray coating method, the smooth-surface PE membrane is preheated to a temperature above the thermal deformation temperature of the desired rough-surface layer. Then, a special spray equipment is used to spray molten plastic filaments onto the surface of the geosynthetic membrane, creating a rough-surface layer. The spray filament method is a complex process that requires precise temperature control, manufacturing and spraying of the plastic filaments, and selection of materials for the smooth and rough layers.

The spray coating method is a secondary forming process. It can be used to preheat and spray the smooth-surface PE  membrane liner to obtain a rough-surface geosynthetic membrane. It can also be integrated into the production line to achieve continuous production of PE rough-surface geomembranes.

Nitrogen Infusion Method:

In the nitrogen infusion method, nitrogen is mixed directly with the PE liner material instead of using a foaming agent. The mixture, along with the ordinary PE geomembrane material, is fed into separate channels of a multi-layer co-extrusion die and extruded together to form the rough-surface layer. The nitrogen infusion method, similar to the chemical foaming method, is a primary forming process suitable for continuous production of PE rough-surface hdpe membranes using the blow molding process.
